One Piece has been around for over two decades, and it is as popular as it has ever been. People love One Piece because of its detailed and emotional storytelling, and it helps that the series also has a ton of well-written characters. Most of these characters are pirates, and the New World portion of the Grand Line is dominated by four captains—who are known as the Yonko.
Whitebeard, Big Mom, Kaido, and Shanks were the Yonko at the start of the series, but the group now consists of Shanks, Luffy, Blackbeard, and Buggy. With the exception of Buggy, each Yonko has been incredibly powerful, and their subordinates are also quite strong. Many of these subordinates can use multiple types of Haki, and a good number of them have strong Devil Fruit powers at their disposal.
Updated on October 30, 2023 by George Voutiritsas: The Yonko are supposed to be the four strongest pirate captains in the New World, and their crews are comprised of strong and capable commanders and affiliates. Many of these individuals are able to use some form of Haki, but they also tend to have some type of Devil Fruit power. These Devil Fruit users are all well-known individuals, and most of them have high bounties. Shanks presumably does not have any Devil Fruit users on his crew, whereas Whitebeard and Luffy had several. Blackbeard, Buggy, Kaido, and Big Mom on the other hand surrounded themselves with Devil Fruit users.
15 Daz Bonez
Daz Bonez was a bounty hunter before joining Baroque Works, and he has been by Crocodile’s side since they both escaped from Impel Down. He is now part of Cross Guild, which means that he is currently associated with Buggy. Daz ate the Dice-Dice Fruit—a Paramecia which gives him the ability to turn any part of his body into a razor-sharp blade
Daz has not exhibited any type of Haki, but he is a master martial artist, and he combines those skills with his Devil Fruit. Daz is a literal living weapon, and if he ever learns how to use Armament Haki, he will be far deadlier.
14 Nico Robin
Nico Robin has one of One Piece’s saddest backstories, and she was convinced that the Straw Hats would eventually betray or abandon her, but she has become a beloved member of the crew. She ate the Flower-Flower Fruit when she was a child, and it allows her to sprout duplicates of her body parts on any surface.
When it comes to combat, she usually sprouts multiple arms on her opponents’ bodies and uses them ro snap their bones. She can create clones of herself, and she can sprout gigantic limbs which she can use to slam or stomp enemies. Robin’s ability is great for taking out multiple enemies at once.
13 Jesus Burgess
Jesus Burgess is the helmsman of the Blackbeard Pirates, and he is the captain of the crew’s First Ship. Burgess is a tall and very muscular man, and he possesses natural superhuman strength – to the point that he could rip a building off its foundations and throw it. He is able to harden parts of his body with Armament Haki.
During the Dressrosa Arc, Burgess did not have a Devil Fruit, but he did acquire one afterwards, and he used it against Law’s crew during the Egghead Arc. Thanks to the Strong-Strong Fruit, Burgess’ superhuman strength is significantly enhanced. As a result, he is now able to lift and toss entire mountains. If he combines this power with Haki, he can shatter someone’s body.
12 Charlotte Smoothie
Charlotte Smoothie is Big Mom’s 14th daughter, and she currently holds the rank of Sweet Commander—which means that she is one of the strongest members of the Big Mom Pirates. She is a Longleg-human hybrid, which explains her height, and she is capable of using Observation and Armament Haki.
Thanks to the Wring-Wring Fruit, Smoothie can drain liquid out of both living and non-living things. When she uses this ability on people, they become severely dehydrated, and their bodies end up twisted. She carries a drill bit shaped sword, and thanks to her ability, she can drain the liquid out of anyone she cuts with it.
11 Jack
As one of Kaido’s All-Stars, Jack is one of the strongest members of the Beast Pirates. He is a giant grouper fish-man, which means that his physical abilities are all naturally greater than an adult human’s. He ate an Ancient Zoan which allows him to transform into a mammoth and mammoth hybrid. Like other Zoan users, his Devil Fruit boosts his physical strength and durability..
Jack can use Armament Haki, but he prefers to rely on his Devil Fruit power. While in his mammoth form, Jack’s body is able to withstand attacks from several Minks who were in their Sulong forms. In terms of offense, Jack was strong enough to destroy half of Zou by himself..
10 Charlotte Cracker
Charlotte Cracker is Big Mom’s 15th child, and he is one of her three Sweet Commanders. He governs Biscuit Island, which makes sense since he ate the Bis-Bis Fruit—a Paramecia which allows him to create and manipulate biscuits. He usually creates large biscuit puppet soldiers that are extremely durable.
Cracker is a very strong Haki user, as evidenced by the fact that his Haki could withstand Luffy’s Haki-imbued attacks. While fighting Gear 4 Luffy, Cracker was able to imbue his sword with enough Haki to cut into Luffy’s Haki-imbued arm. Up until that point, no one had been able to injure Gear 4 Luffy in such a way.
9 Jozu
The Whitebeard Pirates were an especially powerful Yonko crew, and Jozu was the commander of the 3rd division. He had been with the crew for two decades, and he possesses strong Armament Haki – which he used to damage Logia users like Crocodile.
Jozu ate the Twinkle-Twinkle Fruit—a Paramecia, which gives him the ability to transform any part of his body into diamond. The diamond skin enhances his physical strength significantly, and it provides him a near-impenetrable defense. Dracule Mihawk is the world’s strongest swordsman, and Jozu was able to block his strongest slash without suffering a single scratch.
8 Queen
Queen is a gifted scientist who managed to turn himself into a cyborg. He is one of Kaido’s commanders, which explains his strength and the potency of his Armament Haki. He ate an Ancient Zoan Devil Fruit, which allows him to transform into a brachiosaurus and human-brachiosaurus hybrid.
Thanks to this Devil Fruit, all of Queen’s physical abilities are greatly enhanced, and the dinosaur skin grants him increased durability. While in combat, he can use his long neck like a club, and he can deliver devastating headbutts. Thanks to his cyborg augmentations, he can also shoot laser beams from his mouth.
7 Shiryu
Prior to becoming one of the Ten Titanic Captains of the Blackbeard Pirates, Shiryu was the former head jailer of Impel Down. He ended up being imprisoned because he used excessive violence to kill prisoners. He is a master swordsman who uses a nodachi sword to cut through enemies with swift attacks.
He may not have eaten the Clear-Clear Fruit, but he obtained its power after the Blackbeard Pirates came across Absolom—its previous user. It gives him the ability to turn himself invisible, and he can turn anything he touches invisible too. This allows him to sneak behind his targets without being noticed.
6 Yamato
Yamato is Kaido’s son, but he was not loyal to him or the Beast Pirates. He intends to join the Straw Hats, but he wishes to explore all of Wano first. Yamato was given the Dog-Dog Fruit, Model: Okuchi-no-Makami—a Mythical Zoan which allows him to transform into a divine wolf and human-divine wolf hybrid. His physical abilities are all enhanced, and he is able to generate ice.
Yamato can use all three forms of Haki, and he can infuse his weapon and attacks with advanced forms of Armament and Conqueror’s Haki. While in hybrid form, Yamato was able to fight Kaido while he was in his hybrid form, which means that he can become a Yonko-level fighter.
5 Crocodile
Crocodile was part of the Seven Warlords, but he was also the president of the Baroque Works crime syndicate. When the World Government disbanded the Seven Warlords, Crocodile helped Mihawk to escape the Marines, and they formed Cross Guild with Buggy the Clown.
Buggy was accidentally recognized as Cross Guild’s leader—which is why he was named a Yonko. It is also the reason why Crocodile is considered his subordinate. He ate the Sand-Sand Fruit, and it allows him to create and transform into sand. He can create powerful sandstorms, and if he touches someone, he can absorb all the moisture from their body.
4 Charlotte Katakuri
Other than his mother, Katakuri is the strongest member of the Big Mom Pirates. He can use each type of Haki, and his Observation Haki is especially strong because he can use it to briefly see the future. He can create, control, and transform into mochi because of the Mochi-Mochi Fruit.
This Devil Fruit may not sound all that strong, but in Katakuri’s hands, it is a very powerful Paramecia. He can transform his body to avoid attacks just like a Logia user, and he can create tendrils on his body to deliver Haki-infused punches and kicks. His mochi is very thick and sticky – which allows him to restrain strong fighters like Luffy.
3 King
Like other Lunarians, King has dark skin and silver hair. He can fly thanks to the large black wings on his back, and his body can create fire naturally.King has been Kaido’s right-hand man for over 30 years, and his Armament Haki allowed him to clash with Zoro’s three enhanced swords.
He ate an Ancient Zoan Devil Fruit which allows him to transform into a pteranodon at will. While transformed, King can fly at extremely high speeds, and it grants him impressive durability. His beak is basically a spear, and while in his hybrid form, he can use his wing-arms to produce slashing winds that can slice through buildings.
2 Marco
Marco commanded the 1st division of the Whitebeard Pirates, and he briefly led the crew after the Summit War at Marineford. He ate a Mythical Zoan, which gives him the ability to transform into a firey blue phoenix. He has mastered his ability to the point that he can transform any part of his body when needed.
Marco was strong enough to fight both King and Queen during the Onigashima Raid, which is not surprising since his Devil Fruit is overpowered. What makes it so strong is its healing factor, as Marco can heal most injuries within seconds. In certain cases, ranged attacks can safely phase through his body.
1 Kuzan
Kuzan serves as one of Blackbeard’s Ten Titanic Captains, but prior to that, he served as a Marine Admiral. The Admirals are the strongest Marines, which means Kuzan is easily one of the most powerful characters in One Piece.
He can use an advanced form of Armament Haki to emit power from his body over a short distance. He ate the Ice-Ice Fruit, a Logia which allows him to create and transform into ice at any time. He can create weapons whenever he wants, and most non-Haki attacks cannot harm him. He can easily freeze people, and he was able to permanently change the climate of an island.
